Announcing the Finalists of the 2026 Venture Lab Startup Challenge
After a competitive semifinal round of live pitches evaluated by a judging pool of nearly 50 judges from the Penn alumni community and industry experts, eight student-founded startups have advanced to the final round of the 2026 Venture Lab Startup Challenge.
The finalists will compete for $200,000+ in cash and in-kind awards at the live finals taking place on May 1, 2026.
The annual Venture Lab Startup Challenge is the largest pitch competition at Penn and is open to all students. Selected teams pitch their ventures, receive feedback from experienced judges, and compete for funding, visibility, and access to Venture Lab’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Ventures are evaluated on problem and solution, innovation and impact, product development, customer validation, business model, and team execution.
This year’s competition received applications from student founders across schools at the University of Pennsylvania, demonstrating the interdisciplinary nature of innovation at Penn. The finalist teams are developing ventures across a range of industries, including travel and hospitality technology, food and beverage technology, cybersecurity, government technology, robotics and automation, industrial and agricultural technology, and media and entertainment technology.
