The Summer of Impact: Venture Award supports University of Pennsylvania undergraduates (rising sophomores, juniors and seniors), rising 2nd year Wharton MBAs, and graduate students who will be returning to Penn for at least one more year. The award is designed to support students who, in lieu of an internship, will work full time over the summer to actively develop their social enterprise. The Lead Applicant must intend to pursue the venture full-time over the summer if selected as a Summer of Impact: Venture Award winner, and commits to meeting with the Summer of Impact Director on a bi-weekly basis for venture coaching.
Summer of Impact: Venture Awardees will be eligible to receive support from up to two Summer of Impact: Fellows and will be expected to provide a robust, supportive and productive environment for the team to advance the goals of the social enterprise. An existing business is only eligible if, before the start of the current academic year, it has received less than $100,000 in institutional funding. Institutional funding includes any funding from friends and family, angel investors, VCs (any stage, including seed), and/or accelerator/incubator programs.
