VIP-Fellowship is an opportunity for students to learn about startup life, be educated about critical concepts in venture creation, and apply skills learned in their entrepreneurship and innovation classes to a specific project connected to a student-founded venture in Venture Lab’s Venture Initiation Program (VIP).

VIP Fellows commit to a project with a VIP venture for one semester (approximately 10 weeks/ 10 hours per week). As this fellowship is educational in nature and for the student’s benefit, all VIP Fellows are unpaid. Students also can participate in VIP workshops, bootcamps, and advising sessions alongside founders.

The program is open to all Penn and Wharton students.
Penn acts as a great mechanism to vet the talent with whom you will work, and because of this, Penn is able to churn out successful startup after successful startup.

Card Curator
Card Curator empowers consumers to make smarter spending decisions with their credit cards and earn more loyalty points for free travel and other lucrative benefits.

  • What is unique about your venture and why would someone want to work with you? How will your company provide a good experience for the VIP Fellow?

I started this company with my dad because we both love to travel, and after our combined 30 years in finance, we saw how we could also help people do what we love. I became interested in the points and miles space as a volatility trader in NYC, where I certainly wasn’t maximizing my spending, but soon learned how to travel in luxury around the world for next-to-free. By 2018, I left my job to start Card Curator, an app that fully automates everything I know, with what the banks don’t want you to know.

Our company necessitates curious minds. Card Curator has a small, global, and motivated team that values individual input. We have advisors from Atlassian, IBM, as well as serial entrepreneurs in Austin, San Francisco, New York, and London; developers in Toronto and Johannesburg; and executives in Philadelphia and Lakeville, CT. We have successfully raised $500k in pre-seed funding in Dec 2020, and officially soft-launched on both the App Store and Play Store in March 2021. We launched the 2.0 in September 2021 and officially started our second round fundraise this Winter!

Our business is constantly evolving as COVID changes the market environment for both travel and credit. While this creates new challenges, it also provides us with many new opportunities to test novel ideas and expand where our limited competition cannot.

  • What stage of venture implementation are you currently in? What is your next milestone and how will you achieve it? How can your fellow help make an impact?

As our team is so geographically diverse, we have been working remotely since day one, and we have flexible work hours. Despite this geographic dispersion, we are a tight-knit team and help each other. We are driven to make Card Curator a success, and we also understand that everyone has a life, so we encourage a healthy work-life balance. As our VIP Fellow, we know that you have a full class load, and we only ask for 10 hours a week at most. We use a variety of platforms to stay in touch and keep track of our progress.

We had 3 wonderful VIP Fellows in fall 2020, 2 of whom stayed on with us, and we had 3 more join us in spring 2021! We then had 3 new fellows join us in fall 2021 all of whom are staying on! They all contributed significantly to Card Curator, while they learned valuable new skills and grew personally.

We are in the growth phase. We have officially launched on both the App Store and Play Store and will be releasing the 3.0 free version in Q1 of this year! We are now pushing marketing to acquire more quality users, while still focusing on the data analytics and feedback they provide. We have currently over 15,000 users!
Our next milestone is to establish our B2B2C partnerships and continue to expand our user base. We want to convert our current users and new ones to 10,000 weekly actives before the end of the semester!

We will achieve this milestone by spending our capital as efficiently as possible to minimize the acquisition costs of users through an organic word of mouth campaign, as well as highly targeted advertising on Google, Instagram, and Twitter. We want to maximize our focus on fixes, tweaks, and new development driven by the feedback and data analytics we receive from the new users.

Our fellows will be the go-to people for data analytics, marketing, customer acquisition, and customer retention strategies. We have the professional level of HubSpot to help automate and simplify as many processes as possible. We also have a variety of growth tools working for us on Twitter and Instagram. We are heavily focused on data analytics and want it to drive our marketing decisions. We also have a variety of other tools and services we are using to help on the marketing front including: AppsFlyer, Segment, Amplitude.

We are also always looking for more technical skills as well to help contribute to our advanced web scraper which keeps our database up to date! Our previous fellows helped us on both the marketing side, as well as automated testing on the front and backend of the mobile app.

  • What skills and attributes are you looking for in a VIP Fellow?

We are looking for VIP Fellows who are excited by consumer tech and love to travel. We are looking for previous data analytics or marketing experience either personally or professionally. We are also looking for strong technical skills, preferably with experience coding in Python. We also want someone who loves to take initiative, and would strongly consider joining our team full-time!

Flock
Flock is a first mover in the social e-commerce space. We are a beauty, wellness, and personal care e-commerce app that combines social media, group buying, and gamification of rewards to create a new interactive, community-driven shopping experience.

  • What is unique about your venture and why would someone want to work with you? How will your company provide a good experience for the VIP Fellow?

Social e-commerce is overtaking traditional e-commerce outside of the U.S. Group buying social e-commerce company Pinduoduo has more active daily users than Alibaba in China and Shoppe has overtaken Lazada in S.E. Asia. In the U.S, this industry is under penetrated with no leading social e-commerce retailer.

Flock is changing this and reimagining the stale online shopping experience. Our homepage looks like a social media app allowing customers to browse reviews, view purchases from their “skin twins” and friends, join community discussion boards, watch live streams, and chat directly with brands. Our group buying features let customers buy together to get the best deals on products. Games and rewards make the shopping experience fun.

Flock was founded in Oct 2020 by two first year Wharton MBA students with backgrounds in retail and technology (Ex-Microsoft, Jet.com, and Walmart) and strong experience with startups, e-commerce, operations, and software development.

VIP Fellows with Flock will get a diverse startup experience including product management, MVP testing, working with international team members, launching marketing campaigns and new partnerships, and raising a pre-seed round. They will own their work streams and have significant input in setting strategy and execution. Both co-founders will meet and work closely with the VIP-Fellows!

  • What stage of venture implementation are you currently in? What is your next milestone and how will you achieve it? How can your fellow help make an impact?

Flock has 5 interns across engineering and design and is on track to launch our MVP in Q1 2022. We started this company to build something that is truly innovative and saves lives. Ultrasound is ubiquitous in the medical field but has been done the same way for decades. We’re changing that. We believe that this technology will lead to entirely new modalities of imaging such as continuous heart monitoring with high-quality imaging rather than the current simplistic electrical leads, hands-free image-guided procedures, real-time tumor tracking for precision radiation therapy, and more. This is deep tech so we aren’t kidding ourselves about the risks – but if we can get this right, it will have a significant impact on patients.

Grand vision aside, we have the opportunity to make major strides over the next few months. You will have complete ownership over a project that will have significant impact on the direction of this company. Most importantly, however, we believe that this is a two-way street. We will work hard to tailor your focus area to meet your interests and goals and ensure that it’s a rewarding experience.

  • What stage of venture implementation are you currently in? What is your next milestone and how will you achieve it? How can your fellow help make an impact?

We’ve completed initial customer discovery with dozens of physicians and identified a number of high-potential directions. We’re currently narrowing our first use cases and beachhead customers. This is a bit more involved (and we think more fun) process than your typical product because we’re working to not only identify what burning problems need to be solved but also what the real potential is for this technology is and where the two can come together in a feasible timeframe.

As far as milestones: we were selected as finalists in the Defense Innovation Accelerator, have built a team of current and in-progress PhD’s and physicians, as well as key advisors. We’ve also licensed the technology from the Air Force Research Lab and taken it a step further with our own proprietary approach which overcomes a key technical hurdle that has prevented other flexible ultrasound approaches from being successful.

Our primary focus right now is simple: build a product that solves a real problem 10 times better than any other option. Our next step is integrating our technology into a physical prototype to get it in the hands of medical professionals for testing and feedback. We’re also working on a proposal for early-stage funding (National Science Foundation Small Business Innovation and Research Grant), as well as building key partnerships to support further development.

We have specific focus areas but as with any startup, we have a long list of things to get done. If you’re passionate about building something innovative that changes the world – we’ll work together to find something impactful.

  • What skills and attributes are you looking for in a VIP Fellow?

First and foremost, we’re not looking for employees – we’re looking for teammates. We’re looking for people who are passionate, that we can trust to own their focus area, devote the time necessary to understand it, and drive forward.

Beyond that, we want you to work on something that you’re excited about, not something we just don’t want to do ourselves (as often happens) or something where your resume checks the box but you aren’t actually motivated to do. We’d much rather have someone that’s passionate about building long-term value and takes a bit to get up to speed than someone that just looks good on paper.

Some particular areas that we could use people who are excited to dive into (in no particular order):
Marketing
Medical device regulatory planning
Business Development and Partnerships
Product Design
Product Development
Applied math and physics
Algorithms!
Low-level programming (Rust especially)
FPGA’s
Machine learning and deep learning applications to signal and image processing.
Grafi
Grafi is an AI platform that can accelerate a writer’s content generation using trainable machine learning algorithms and SEO optimization.

  • What is unique about your venture and why would someone want to work with you? How will your company provide a good experience for the VIP Fellow?

This allows content writers to scale their efforts and focus more on editing rather than writing. Working at Grafi will allow one to engage in a new and rapidly growing area within the Artificial Intelligence space and I would be more than happy to take on the Fellow a mentee. AI is an exciting field to be in and, working at Grafi, one will grow both technical and non-technical skills on an already built, fully functional platform. The stage is set and we need a Fellow as we embark upon our next milestone.

  • What stage of venture implementation are you currently in? What is your next milestone and how will you achieve it? How can your fellow help make an impact?

We are currently in the growth stage with a fully operational product and several customers lined up. Simply put, our next milestone is rapid customer acquisition. We are aiming to acquire 50 new customers by the time the summer starts. To do this, we are looking for a Fellow to design and implement a sales and marketing strategy to reach out to prospective customers and spread awareness. • What skills and attributes are you looking for in a VIP Fellow?

We are looking for a Fellow that is willing to think like a salesperson. Preferred skills: HubSpot, content marketing, digital marketing, and some knowledge in AI/ML.
HandHold
HandHold is a two-sided platform connecting customers with high quality professionals for lessons and services in the wellness, style, and personal care space. Think TaskRabbit, but for wellness.

  • What is unique about your venture and why would someone want to work with you? How will your company provide a good experience for the VIP Fellow?

Handhold’s mission is to make wellness, style, and personal care services more accessible, trustworthy, and customized to individuals, because everyone should be able to look and feel their best. We were frustrated with how challenging it was to find personalized, high quality professionals in the wellness space — for both lessons, and on-demand services. Especially because so much of it is personal and everyone has unique needs – so we set out to change that.

Handhold’s solution is to provide an online platform to connect individuals with experts in the wellness, style, and personal care space for both lessons and outsourcing tasks. Customers enter the platform, take a quiz on what problem(s) they are trying to solve, and we will assemble a "team" of experts or services curated for their needs. For example, if Sally is interested in healthy eating and dressing more confidently, we will match her with a nutritionist and a personal stylist who will design a plan for her either virtually or in person. We will also offer one-time services to outsource tasks such as getting makeup done for an event, having a professional come over and help you meal prep, etc.

Our team currently has experience in technology product management, private equity / finance, and data science, so whoever comes on board can learn a lot about those functions from us! Since Handhold has not launched yet, there is A LOT of room to shape the strategy and make a huge impact in a variety of areas. Ultimately we are a technology company and a two-sided platform, so Fellows can learn a lot about tech startups, B2B and B2C.

We will move super quickly and have clear milestones to hit, but we will also give our fellows full ownership of their responsibilities. We work hard but promise a fun and rewarding experience.

We are primarily in the business model validation phase of our venture. We have done initial customer research and market validation. We do still have a lot of progress to make, especially on the technical side of the business as we just brought on a CTO. VIP Fellows can make an impact in the following milestones:

1) Product and Sales for B2B - Build out the B2B side of the business to ensure proper supply. Whoever comes on board can have a key role in building out that product and sales strategy from scratch to attract experts onto the platform and build out the strategy to keep them on the platform. They will also think about the correct training for the experts and what that might entail.

2) Build the consumer facing MVP version of the platform. The consumer facing MVP is just in the design / prototype phase and needs to be built out by an engineering team. The Fellow can help with product management, design, or engineering here. Bonus if fellows have experience working with recommendation engines.

3) Financial planning / operations. We have a basic business model and financial model for our business, but there is an opportunity to help us strategically think through our decisions about our final business model and our road to profitability.

4) Consumer marketing - before we launch, we want to ensure a strong customer base on our waitlist. We need to work on acquisition and retention through ad campaigns, and content on social media such as managing our Instagram, Tiktok, and creating our blog.

-Strategy / Operations (especially for two-sided platforms)

-Can lead with little direction
-Deep analytical ability
-Willingness to learn and touch various parts of the business
-Stick to deadlines/honor the commitments they’ve made

This is where you come in. Our fellows will be the go-to people for data analytics, marketing, customer acquisition, and customer retention strategies. We also have opportunities to get involved on the partnership side to identify new hotel and other travel industry partners.

Keye
Keye is here to change how people subscribe to digital services. We want to empower people by giving them on-demand access to technologies that improve their lives at the best possible value. 75% of interested users do not fit the profile of active users of the platform and remained untapped so far. They also tend to be the biggest pain point for subscription services. This is where Keye comes in. With Keye, vendors and creators can offer content to new users on a limited basis. Users pay a discounted price, and Keye facilitates discovery and monetization.

  • What is unique about your venture and why would someone want to work with you? How will your company provide a good experience for the VIP Fellow?

Keye is a one-of-a-kind marketplace which is looking to solve the problem of inflexible subscription pricing by offering the users the ability to choose their subscription usage on the go and hence have more control over their spending. Our unique business model benefits both our customers as well as vendors and looks to bridge the gap between the two.

We are a tight-knit and passionate team of 13, comprising 4 Co-Founders (ex-Google, ex-Microsoft, ex-Accenture, and previous entrepreneurs) and 8 Fellows who have experience working in Operations, Sales & Partnerships, Marketing, Engineering. We are currently a part of Wharton’s start-up incubator and have won awards (Innovation Fund and Contrary Capital’s Pitch Night) just a few months in and will be competing in many more over the course of the next few months. Our Engineering team (comprising 3 engineers from Caltech, UPenn, and UC Berkeley) has already built out our MVP and we are currently testing the version in a closed beta (www.unlockkeye.com, Invitation Only). We also have a waitlist of over 1000+ without any marketing spend, and already have partners who have agreed to come on board in our next version of beta testing.

Our goal in the near future is to successfully complete the beta testing and on the business, end is to apply to a top accelerator program/raise funds to launch the product. Being a part of the team will give VIP Fellows an opportunity to go through the process as well as an opportunity to join the team full time if we are successful in either of the endeavors.

Keye offers VIP Fellows the opportunity to get hands-on experience at an early-stage venture focused on putting money back in consumers’ pockets while getting them access to more of the content they love. Fellows have an opportunity to contribute to all aspects of the business, including building the subscription platform, working on the backend, building partnerships with content providers and marketing the product to users.

  • What stage of venture implementation are you currently in? What is your next milestone and how will you achieve it? How can your fellow help make an impact?

We have already built out our initial MVP and are looking to perfect it using three versions and experiments. We are preparing for our V3 Launch in February end/ March start. Fellows will shape the direction of the venture at its earliest stages and make a huge contribution by getting the company off the ground.

  • What skills and attributes are you looking for in a VIP Fellow?

Fellows have an opportunity to hone in on areas they are passionate about, and we are looking for skills in five specific areas (can apply for individual roles):

Product Engineering: Building a quality marketplace requires seamless UX and well-tested backend integrations with our various vendors. A product engineer at Keye will work closely with our product manager and engineers to strategize, implement, and test various user workflows and vendor integrations. They will not only gain technical experience building an end-to-end product from the ground up but also learn to interpret business goals and make tradeoffs to achieve our objective. The candidate should have prior programming experience in an object-oriented language (Java, Python, C++, etc). Bonus points if the candidate has worked on web applications or APIs in the past.

Creative Writer: We are building out our final product and along with marketing efforts we need individuals who have a knack for writing and creating a brand presence through their writing. We are looking for creative writers to not only help us with UX writing but also create and shape our brand through online writing and publishing, including blogs, articles, newsletters, and or on the wiki. If writing is your passion and you want to make an impact in an entrepreneurial setting, we would love to know more about you. Plus points if you have been writing as part of a magazine (school affiliated or personal blog)

Strategic Partnerships: Keye is nothing without the unique content and services provided by partners on our platform. The Partnerships Fellow will work closely with our co-founders, Director of Partnerships, and the rest of the team to craft the content offering available on Keye. They will engage with the broader tech community to generate insights as to what their product needs are. Primarily, the work will consist of market research, sourcing, outreach, pitching and negotiation of partnership deals that will grow our offering from a small beta to a large marketplace. Fellows should be comfortable with targeted written and verbal communication, conducting outreach via various channels, and doing basic data analysis and presentations.

Business Development & Operations: We are looking to ramp up operations at Keye across all departments and to achieve this we will need to fundraise and be agile strategically. The fellow is expected to have excellent interpersonal skills along with proficiency with creating PowerPoint presentations. Alongside, a rigor to follow the process/have a structured approach to implementing. Master-level students are welcome to apply.

We are not only in search of good content creators but also fellows who want to learn about all aspects of marketing including email marketing, marketing analytics, and overall marketing strategy. You will directly work with the Co-Founders to define and execute the marketing strategy.

Kokada, the original coconut spread, is a first-of-its-kind coconut based, refined sugar free, better-for-you dessert spread

  • What is unique about your venture and why would someone want to work with you? How will your company provide a good experience for the VIP Fellow?

Kokada the original coconut spread is a first-of-its-kind, coconut-based dessert spread. We are on a mission to share food that makes you feel good and does good for the larger community, which is why since day 1, we've donated part of all proceeds to community building projects in Sri Lanka (where we also create jobs and source our ingredients)!

We are a small team of three with two cofounders who are also Wharton MBAs! We hope to partner with you to give you an inside look into what a day in the life of a CPG start up is, and on giving you to opportunity to select a project to own from end to end for the whole semester. We also plan on meeting and working with you in person throughout the semester to be as close as possible!

  • What stage of venture implementation are you currently in? What is your next milestone and how will you achieve it? How can your fellow help make an impact?

We are focused on two primary objectives this year: to hit 200+ doors with our product (focused in the natural retail channel), to open and close our seed round.

Our fellow is going to be instrumental in helping us prepare for this. You will be helping us level up our investor pitch deck, level up our marketing initiatives, and conducting research on which B2B partnerships to pursue (and pursuing them if you want to take it forward!)

Ideally (preferable but not 100% necessary) you have a background in CPG, consumer startups, retail, marketing, or consulting.

Come join us and be part of the team making curated cocktails for all our uncurated moments.

  • What is unique about your venture and why would someone want to work with you? How will your company provide a good experience for the VIP Fellow?

Ready-to-drink spirits cocktails grew 53% in 2021 and is on-track to grow 20%+ annually in the next 5 years – faster than hard seltzer, which have started to plateau in growth. Consumers, tired of the saturation in seltzer, have begun trading up for higher ABV, liquor-based cocktails. Moreover, the competitive space for RTD spirit cocktails remains highly fragmented with no clear category winner. Majority of the cocktail drinks on the market are basic cocktails like vodka / tequila sodas and look undifferentiated.

We think this is an exciting, fast-growing market with whitespace, and we want to tackle it with a new brand that thinks differently. Lyvely Drinks aims to be the one-stop shop with high-quality, bar-level cocktails for different tastes and occasions; think cocktails from The Dead Rabbit, Death & Co., or your favorite cocktail bar, ready to pour and drink from your fridge. Our hero product is the Vanilla Espresso Martini, made with real brewed organic coffee & real vodka, mixed at 12% AB and an espresso shot of caffeine, and sold in 6.8 oz cans at $5.50.

We are committed to providing the best experience for our VIP Fellow. They will own their workstreams end-to-end & have significant latitude in setting strategy/execution. The founders come from Bain and BCG and are dedicated to providing mentorship on brand / product development, marketing and other topics. Lastly, the VIP Fellow will also get to help bring a new product from concept to launch!

We are Lyvely Drinks, Inc. and we make curated cocktails for all your uncurated moments. Come join us and be part of an amazing ride!

Note: Both undergrad and graduate students are welcome to apply!

  • What is unique about your venture and why would someone want to work with you? How will your company provide a good experience for the VIP Fellow?

At MarketAlpha, we're building the world's first portfolio intelligence app for everyday investors in stocks and crypto. Our novelty is in taking a holistic approach to a customer's investments. According to our research, over 75% of users on apps such as Robinhood and Coinbase struggle to monitor the return and risk in their portfolio. Our platform evaluates the customer's entire portfolio and provides risk management and diversification recommendations across asset classes. The stock and crypto universes have never been brought to the same unified plane before. This is an incredible opportunity for someone excited about personal finance and financial equity for everyday investors.

This is an opportunity to work with an experienced team that has worked at large firms such as Microsoft, Bain, and Lightspeed Ventures and has scaled venture-backed startups before. We have a very informal culture and are dedicated to the growth of our team members. Since we're still in early stages, the fellow will have the opportunity to see the different parts of building a business, while immersing themselves in the rapidly growing fintech ecosystem.

  • What stage of venture implementation are you currently in? What is your next milestone and how will you achieve it? How can your fellow help make an impact?

We're continuing to do market validation using UX mockups while developing the MVP. Our plan is to launch our MVP by March and gain traction to about 3000-5000 users within 6 months post launch before conducting a fundraising exercise. The fellow will help us ideate through different ways of representing financial data so that our target audience of early-in-career professionals can easily understand. They'll be involved in designing UX to show key metrics such as stock/crypto holdings, returns, risk, etc. that will be presented to customers for feedback. This design effort will be critical to our product's success.

  • What skills and attributes are you looking for in a VIP Fellow?

The fellow needs to have a love for designing slick UX for consumer mobile apps. Familiarity with tools such as Figma and Adobe XD will be valuable. Prior experience or understanding of fintech is not necessary.

  • What is unique about your venture and why would someone want to work with you? How will your company provide a good experience for the VIP Fellow?

At MunchLocker, you’ll work directly with me, David. I’ve taken a winding road to entrepreneurship: I served in the Israel Defense Forces before college, got caught in Egypt studying abroad during the Arab Spring of 2011, spent 6 years in US Army Special Forces, and worked at McKinsey for 2.5 years. I’ve also spent time working in private equity and supported an early stage startup in preparation for a Series A that raised $13M. I’ve witnessed success and failure in multiple environments and I know that competent and empowered teams are critical to success. This starts with supporting you to ensure that your personal goals are achieved through the MunchLocker VIP fellowship! Also, I didn’t choose entrepreneurship to bore myself or anyone else to tears. I deeply believe that we’ve got to have fun getting after our work at MunchLocker.

This report will directly support prototype development.

2. Prototype Specification & Design - This workstream will produce a complete list of specifications and a proposed design for the MunchLocker prototype. This could be the result of your personal knowledge and research, or it could be the outcome of a competition you help design. (For this workstream…and all others…we’ll set a clear “what” and leave room for a wide range of “how”s).

3. Digital Customer Experience Improvement - This workstream will produce a top-notch digital experience for MunchLocker customers. Potential deliverables could include (a) a website/web app that’s easy and fun for customers to interact with that provides necessary data to MunchLocker, (b) digital marketing materials that facilitate brand awareness and customer attraction, and (c) workflows that support customer-locker interactions.

*Make your own fellowship: If you want to work with MunchLocker on something not listed here, please reach out detailing a proposed project/workstream/interest.*

Our two founders share 20+ years management, strategy, and operations consulting and digital consumer experience design, a Wharton executive MBA, and a lot of energy and excitement. • What is unique about your venture and why would someone want to work with you? How will your company provide a good experience for the VIP Fellow?

Our venture is unique given our product is entirely new to the US market. It is especially relevant to our peers and similar demographic and has broad bass, mass consumer appeal vs. targeted towards a niche or B2B customer base. We’re confident we can ensure a good learning experience for our VIP fellow because of the stage our venture is at. The help we need is a mix of operations (actual selling) and strategy (how to think about channels and go-to-market), which means our VIP-F can get hands-on experience with sales and marketing, pitching to customers, etc. In addition, our product is relatable and easy to understand, so no ramp-up / technical expertise needed. Our VIP-F will also have the opportunity to craft a unique brand story which is different from most ventures these days where the focus is on product.

    • What stage of venture implementation are you currently in? What is your next milestone and how will you achieve it? How can your fellow help make an impact?

We are currently in a soft-launch phase. We have been accepted into NJ Farmers markets where we will launch our product, get revenue and get feedback. Our milestone for this quarter is to get sales ~$15K with a margin of $10K. Our fellow can help us make an impact in the following ways:

    Seadrop Skincare
Seadrop Skincare is a premium, zero-waste, “just-add-water” anhydrous skincare brand – consumers add water at home to turn dry, concentrated ingredients into powerful skincare rituals.

    • What is unique about your venture and why would someone want to work with you? How will your company provide a good experience for the VIP Fellow?

PSA FOR ALL SKINCARE ENTHUSIASTS: The primary ingredient in liquid facial skincare can be surprising. It's water (the same water we have on tap at home). Since skincare products are up to 90% water, the entire industry is burdened. Retailers pay for expensive shipping, consumers use products laden with artificial preservatives necessary to prevent bacterial growth in water-based products, and the planet is weighed by the single-use plastic packaging.

Seadrop Skincare creates premium, zero-waste, “just-add-water” anhydrous skincare innovations and rituals - add water at home to turn dry ingredients into powerful skincare products. Our hero product, a first-of-its-kind hydrating facial cleanser that can be activated with a few drops of water, will launch in the Spring of 2022.

    • What stage of venture implementation are you currently in? What is your next milestone and how will you achieve it? How can your fellow help make an impact?

Over the past 12 months, Seadrop Skincare has finalized the formula for our first product with a cosmetic chemist, run safety and stability testing, sourced suppliers, requested necessary regulatory approvals, and sourced packaging. The next milestone is launching our first hero product, a facial cleanser, in the Spring of 2022.

    Splitlevel
Splitlevel is an app that enables groups to purchase and co-own second or investment homes at a fraction of the cost.

    • What is unique about your venture and why would someone want to work with you? How will your company provide a good experience for the VIP Fellow?

Splitlevel seeks to deliver a product that’s the first of its kind. Proptech is exploding–our closest competitor raised over $200m at a $1b valuation last fall–and the industry is due for such an innovation: rates of home co-ownership have doubled in the last year and increased nearly 800% in the last ten years.

Anyone interested in real estate, property tech, law, financial services, app development, product management, and early stage entrepreneurship would benefit from being an early participant in Splitlevel.

    • What stage of venture implementation are you currently in? What is your next milestone and how will you achieve it? How can your fellow help make an impact?

We are in the validation phase. Initial advertisements and website engagement have yielded positive results, and our next milestone will be outlining a product requirements document for our minimum viable product.

A fellow can make an impact by helping with any of the following: product management and design, market research, or legal research. We are also looking for fellows with a software engineering background to help build our minimum viable product.

    • What skills and attributes are you looking for in a VIP Fellow?

We are looking for fellows who have experience in (or are excited by) real estate, law, and technology. A successful fellow will be someone who is an analytical, action-oriented, and curious problem solver.

    SuChef
SuChef's mission is to help chefs and food creators make a living outside of a kitchen, and without the need for a cookbook deal. We provide a platform to help chefs/food creators make recurring revenue through subscription to their cooking content (recipe videos, live cooking classes, merchandise).

    • What is unique about your venture and why would someone want to work with you? How will your company provide a good experience for the VIP Fellow?

    • Food social is the next big consumer/social arena. We all spend a significant amount of time eating and thinking about our next meal. There are over 80M people who cook 3x a week and 200M who use digital platforms to cook at home (NYT cooking, Serious Eats).

    • There are more creators than ever, but it shockingly hard to make a living off of food content. 97.5% of food creators on YouTube make less than $17,000 a year and on TikTok, creators receive only ~$40 for a post with 1M views. This makes creating food content unsustainable as a full time job for most creators.

    • Let’s shape the future of food, recipes, eating at home, and cooking with friends. No more sad salads, mediocre dinner dates, or friends-giving kitchen fires.

    • Let’s help food creators make a living outside of a commercial kitchen and without the need for a cookbook deal. Help creators make money on their terms.

    • We will help VIP Fellows own their projects from start to finish and meet their goals from marketing campaigns to developing our product. We are dedicated to providing mentorship, sharing tips, skills and career insights, and some incredible dinners. We have experience as product managers, social media influencers, and in data science. Fellows will get the opportunity to play a key role in building traction, awareness, and growing our user base.
